The Prince William-Manassas Family Alliance invited both candidates to respond to our questionnaire.   Neither Delegate Jackson Miller nor challenger Jeanette Rishell chose to respond to our questionnaire. So we researched each candidate’s position on each issue.  Our voter guide shows what we were able to uncover.  What follows shows our sources.

Delegate Jackson Miller

• Issue:  Train state police to assist in enforcing immigration laws.
  Position:  Support.

  Chief Patron of HB 623 Immigration laws; Governor to enter into memorandum of agreement with Immigration and Customs.  The bill passed the House, but failed in the Senate.

• Issue:  Make illegal aliens eligible for in-state tuition rates.
  Position:  Opposes.

  Voted for House substitute for SB652 on 3-4-2008.

• Issue:  Fund universal preschool for 4 year-olds.
  Position:  Opposes.

• Prohibit employers from requiring workers to join union.
• End abortion on demand, if permitted by Supreme Court.
• Tax credits for private elementary and secondary school tuition.
• Repeal the Marriage Amendment that defines marriage to be between one man and one woman.
• Repeal one-gun-a-month law.
• Increase the gasoline tax to pay for transportation improvements.
• Give transportation priority for new dollars in general fund budget.
• Add “sexual orientation” to state nondiscrimination-in-hiring law.
