Tomorrow, November 4th, is election day. Have you studied the candidates? Do you they all disgust you so much you cannot stand to vote for any of them? Are you waiting for the perfect candidate? Then you have fallen for a logical fallacy, the nirvana fallacy.
Because there are no perfect human beings, we don’t get to vote for perfect human beings. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “there is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10-18).
Because we must make someone responsible, in any election, whether we choose to vote or not, one of the candidates will win. And if we choose not to vote, we will still be held responsible, particularly if we might have known which one of the candidates would have done better than the others.
Therefore, please do not shirk your responsibility to yourself, your family, and your community. Please take the time to study the candidates and vote.
