Amos 7:7-8 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
7 Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing [a]by a [b]vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand. 8 The Lord said to me, “What do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,
“Behold I am about to put a plumb line
In the midst of My people Israel.
I will [c]spare them no longer.
How do you tell if something is crooked? Eyeball it? Perhaps. More realistically, you lay a straight edge against it. Even the slightest deviation from straight is obvious when you do.
God’s word is the straight edge for our existence on earth. When God created human kind, He knew we would need ways to tell right from wrong, good from evil, up from down, in from out. So, He put His plan in His Book. It’s all there if we’ll avail ourselves of the guidance and read the Word.
However, Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to Me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.”
What an awful rebuke! Adults in past decades ate away at our nation’s moral fiber by legislating against Bible reading and prayer in the schools and legalizing abortion (murder). They willfully rejected God in the public square. Yet, our children are the ones who pay the price. Instead of Bible reading and prayer, activists are wheeling and dealing immorality into the children’s curriculum through their ‘sexual education’ classes. At the same time since 1973 our schools and ultimately our society have been robbed of over 51 million children through abortion. It’s not our generation that pays a dear price: it’s our kids!
It’s time we adults rise up and say “enough is enough!” We’re taking the high road. Phooey on ‘political correctness!’ The extremists don’t quit talking and making a ruckus, telling lies and half-truths to influence public opinion in their direction. Now we’re taking back the territory a past generation ceded to the enemy. We’re voting for righteousness and purity, decency and order, life and liberty!!! Come November 5, we’re turning things around!
