![]() XXXXXXX, Please read the following message from Students for Life Action… As you’ve probably seen by now, pro-abortion Democrats are working hard in Richmond to try to repeal important protections for preborn babies, moms, and families. Will you take five minutes today to help us stop them? Making your voice heard is not difficult, but it can have a tremendous impact. First, look up your state delegate and state senator HERE. Since this legislation would affect all of us, you should contact as many elected officials as you can. Second, call the phone number of their district office AND their Richmond office and tell them you are a Virginia resident and would like to oppose the legislation (summaries below) and that you always vote pro-life first. Third, please share the legislative summaries below on social media and with your friends and family. Legislative staff, the people who answer the phones and read constituent letters, say that elected officials can be swayed by a public outcry for or against legislation. Here are the worst pieces of pro-abortion legislation you should be aware of: S.B. 21 and S.B. 68 would remove important informed consent protections, including showing the woman an ultrasound before an abortion, a 24-hour waiting period to ensure that no one is rushing into a decision, and parental consent, which ensures that a teenage girl’s parents are involved and able to counsel her and support her in choosing life. There is some good news though! We need your help supporting S.B. 501, Students for Life Action’s legislation to improve the foster care system in Virginia by speeding up the home study and background check process. Please ask your representatives to vote YES on S.B. 501 to ensure that parents that want to foster and adopt can be quickly approved in a safe manner. You can read about our statements of support here. Students and staff have been working hard in Virginia to support the preborn and we would really appreciate your help. Remember to stay calm and polite when calling. Oftentimes you will be speaking to legislative staff or interns who will be taking down what you said. If you have any questions, please let me know!
