When we warned voters prior to the past November elections, we did not imagine the extremists who were ultimately voted into Richmond majorities in both houses of Virginia state government would wreak such havoc with our laws! They absolutely bought into the LGBTQ agenda for transgender “special rights” at all levels of our civic life. One such area is public schools.
The Board of Education was mandated to form policies all schools in Virginia must follow. They must accommodate students who identify with a gender opposite their gender assigned at birth. Those policies must be put into practice during the 2021-2022 school year. That means that females who identify as males will use the boys’ bath, shower and dressing rooms, and males who identify as females will use the girls’ bath, shower and changing rooms…not just in special places within those facilities! They must be treated totally as their chosen gender!
Further, staff and students must use pronouns appropriate to the student’s identified gender or face legal censure. Transgender students must be addressed by their adopted gender identity name and be permitted to wear chosen identity clothing, as well. There is no room for discrimination in any way or form.
One exception was made concerning sports. Transgender males to females may not compete in girls’ sports, contrary to some other states, like Connecticut. At least, that’s how it is for now.
As parents and grandparents, you have a decision to make in the future. Do you leave your children in school to face those policy changes or do you homeschool or enroll them in a private school? These are huge decisions that require parental time and/or expense you may not be equipped to assume.
While we’re discussing education, you may be interested to know that Minnesota is considering a constitutional provision that “all children have a fundamental right to a quality public school education” (http://parentalrights.org/minnesota-to-end-all-private-education/). This is a worthy objective and seems to cry out for improvement in the public educational system. However, what is standing in their way now to improve it? Nothing the new provision would change.
Instead, it means that if the provision is enacted, the State would have the right to challenge parents who choose another form of education for their children other than the public schools. Essentially, they could ban homeschooling and private schools…and most of those are church-affiliated!
That sounds very totalitarian, doesn’t it? The government could educate all children to swallow the philosophy and goals of extremism. Right now, this is just a proposal, but very worthy of being brought to the fore so parents know what is happening under the radar in our nation.
There’s more to follow about transgenderism and sex education in the schools, so stay tuned!
