Victoria Cobb, president of The Family Foundation of Virginia, warns that the outcome of the November 3 election will determine whether or not taxpayers pay for Medicare abortions in the future.
In an email released October 21 (Family Foundation Action, firstname.lastname@example.org, Action Alert: Reject Taxpayer Funded Abortion, October 21, 2020), she focused on a virtual meeting held by a Virginia House Health, Welfare and Institutions work group that discussed HB 1445. The bill would expand Medicaid coverage to pay for abortions regardless of reason. Currently, only abortions of pregnancies resulting from incest, rape or to save the mother’s life are covered.
When Richmond legislators convene in 2021, after the election, how we vote November 3 will determine next steps:
If President Trump wins a second term, the Weldon amendment that protects health care providers who refuse to perform, accommodate or assist with certain health care services will remain in effect.
If Joe Biden is elected, it is likely he will eliminate the Weldon amendment that would ultimately require health care providers to pay for abortions.
Also, on the horizon in Virginia is a proposed right to abortion being added to our state constitution, and to get rid of parental consent for minors who seek an abortion. In all cases, that means you, the tax payer, would fund abortions!
It further means your parental rights would be seized by giving the government more control over your children and their medical rights. Are you willing to concede your role as a parent?
So much is at stake in this election! Your vote is critically important! So is your influence as you urge family members, friends and neighbors to vote, as well. The lives of yet unconceived babies are at stake. Your vote can help make the difference between life and death!
Please VOTE…for LIFE!
