Abortionists haven’t taken a rest or stopped their onslaught against helpless babies in the womb! Last week The Massachusetts House legislators passed a radical pro-abortion measure (www.lifenews.com/2020/11/13/massachusetts-house-passes-democrat-amendment-legalizing-abortions-up-to-birth) that expanded late-term abortions and permits young girls to have abortions without parental knowledge or approval. Is that sort of choice what you want for you daughters? What about your parental rights?
That’s what DC Council member Trayon White Sr. asked when the Council voted recently to allow children as young as 11 to have vaccinations without their parents’ consent (www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/dc-vaccine-minors/2020/10/20/7378801e-12e4-11eb-ba42-ec6a580836ed_story.html/). A doctor can determine if a minor is capable of making an informed consent. When decided, that child can opt to have a vaccine opposed by their parents on religious grounds, including the human papillomavirus vaccine given to prevent a disease commonly transmitted among sexually-active teens.
The bill gives the doctor the right to determine if a child can have a vaccine. Then he or she sends the vaccination record to the child’s school rather than to the parents and requests compensation from the insurance company without parental involvement. White voted against the bill after voicing his opposition to it. It passed anyway! The bill still needs a second vote of the council and Mayor Muriel Bowser’s signature to become law. Those actions are pending.
Other medical services kids can access in DC without parental consent include substance abuse and mental health counseling and birth control prescriptions. All those allowances point toward encouraging pre-marital sex and ignoring parents’ wishes!
Take heart from Arkansas: (www.LifeNews.com/2020/11/18, Arkansas Legislators File Bill to Ban Abortions, Give Supreme Court Opportunity to Overturn Roe). Two state legislators filed a bill to make abortion illegal in Arkansas except when the life of the mother is threatened. If the bill passes, it will give SCOTUS an opportunity to overturn Roe v Wade and other pro-abortion decisions. So, there is great hope on the horizon! The tide must turn and will!
Dr. Alveda King, daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, is producing a film to be released in Spring, 2121 about the barbaric practice of abortion. She is especially alarmed because during the COVID-19 pandemic, many abortion clinics stayed open anyway.
Also, during the pandemic an explosion of doctors prescribed the abortion pill over video chats. In a previous series of articles, Family Alliance highlighted the dangers of “do-it-yourself” abortions at home. But the program, called TelAbortion is already active in 13 states and working to expand to other states as fast as possible (Alveda King: aking@catholicbundle.com, The Abortion Pill at Home, November 16, 2020 at 7:08 PM).
Last, but not least, our own governor, Dr. Ralph Northam, has legalization of marijuana in Virginia top on his list of legislative items for 2021! (https://patch.com/virginia/woodbridge-va/s/hbeyx/northam-we-are-go…_source=newsletter-daily-utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter). Though many claim that marijuana is not harmful, many studies point to changes in the brain caused by smoking pot.
Case in point: Neuroscientist Staci Gruber, EdM ’95, PhD, a Harvard Medical School associate professor of psychiatry, finds that “individuals who start heavy recreational marijuana use before age 16—when the brain is still developing—may perform more poorly on cognitive or behavioral tasks involving the frontal cortex, such as memory, attention, and judgment, than those who don’t use cannabis or who started using it later in life” (https://neuro.hms.harvard.edu/harvard-mahoney-neuroscience-institute/brain-newsletter/and-brain/cannabis-and-brain). “Neuroimaging has also revealed changes in white matter, the neural fibers critical for efficient communication among brain regions, in early-onset cannabis users.”
Citing just that much information about marijuana’s negative impact on the brain, especially on our youth, we wonder why a pediatric neurologist advocates the legalization of marijuana in Virginia so ardently! The two seem incongruous!
Folks, we’re engaged in warfare between life and death, Biblical values or denial of God in any form. We must hold our ground and stand for what is right and pure and good. Parents, engage with your children. Keep an open dialogue with them, so they feel free to bring questions and problems to you for solution or clarification. Your children’s souls matter! So does your family! So do you!
