The Virginia chapter of the Family Foundation (familyfoundation@familyfoundation.org ) asks:

Do schools have the right to keep secrets from parents about their own children—especially when it comes to intimate details on sensitive issues like gender and sexuality?

The Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) proposal for a statewide—and mandatory—transgender model policy for all K-12 schools brings the issue to the forefront. Help protect kids today:

We have only until February 3 to register our comments about this outlandish policy that is being forced on parents and children in our public schools. It is vitally important for you to listen to the discussion at the first link above, so you are more educated about what the policy will do IN our schools and TO our children WITHOUT parental approval.

Once you have been informed and your opinions are clear, click on the second link above to register them on the Citizens’ Comments web site for the limited time that ends February 3. Once the VDOE policy is finalized, hopefully incorporating the viewpoints of caring parents and citizens, every school board in Virginia will be expected to adopt policies and adapt their schools to adhere to the letter of the law or even exceed its expectations!!

Now is our window of opportunity to get rid of this horrendous policy or strip it of offensive expectations. While the Family Alliance wants protection and fair treatment of all students who have transgender identities, we believe ALL students’ rights ought to be respected. Those protections ought to be expressed in the policy!
