As we get responses to our candidate questionnaire, we will post them. Here is an explanation of what we are trying to accomplish, ELECTION 2021: CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE FOR THE POTENTIAL NOMINEES | Prince William-Manassas Family Alliance (familyallianceonline.org).

Sergio de la Peña has provided his response to our questionnaire. De la Peña is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination to be governor of Virginia. Please thank Mr. de la Peña for being forthright about his position on the issues.

WHO IS RUNNING FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR?

In an earlier post, ELECTION 2021: WHO IS RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA? | Prince William-Manassas Family Alliance (familyallianceonline.org), we considered the news about Virginia’s gubernatorial candidates. Here we will consider the candidates for Lieutenant Governor.

Here are lists of the people who are running for Governor of Virginia.

• Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election, 2021 – Ballotpedia: Provides a list of the Democratic Party’s candidates and some background information. Also lists an Independent. Oddly, unlike the article on the candidates running for governor, it does not list the candidates seeking the Republican Party’s nomination. This article, Virginia state executive official elections, 2021 – Ballotpedia, does include a list.
• Elections: Lt. Governor (vpap.org): VPAP.ORG focuses upon who is financing the candidates.

• 2021 Nomination – Republican Party of Virginia: Here is a list of the Republican Party’s candidates for statewide offices. Also some information about the nomination process. Because the nomination process affects who is chosen as the party’s nominee, the Republican Party has fought over the nomination process. Nevertheless, the party successfully conducted an unassembled convention in 2020 (see Microsoft Word – 2020 Quadrennial Convention Call UPDATED 3.docx (virginia.gop)). That was how the party elected it current chairman, Results: Virginia Republicans elect new chairman, committeewoman – Fort Hunt Herald. So, this unassembled convention should also be a success. However, volunteers will be required to make it work.
• Democratic Party of Virginia (vademocrats.org): The Virginia Commonwealth is effectively running the nomination process for the Democratic Party (via a primary election). So, there is not much information about the nomination process on Democratic Party of Virginia (vademocrats.org). However, the Prince William Office of Elections has put out a notice for the primary election, 100 Day Notice | pwcvotes.
