What is the first step in establishing tyranny? Those who would rule must convince enough people that “it’s the right thing to do.” Consider some of the more prominent examples.
- When white people enslaved black people, they used the government to help establish their “right” to own black people. Supposedly, blacks were racially inferior. That is, various academics established the belief in the racial inferiority of blacks as a “scientific belief.” That supposedly made enslaving blacks “the right thing to do.”
- Before Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party took over Germany, Hitler documented the ideology of the Nazis in Mein Kampf. The Nazis advocated the belief in an Aryan master race. The Nazis also emphasized racial conflict, especially agains the Jews. That supposedly made The Holocaust “the right thing to do.”
- Karl Marx is infamous for establishing the ideology that Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin used to establish their tyranny over Russia. Instead of using race to pit people against each other, the Communists used wealth, pitting the “workers” against the capitalists. That supposedly made throwing millions of people in gulags “the right thing to do.”
- And so forth.
What is the modern excuse for tyranny? White privilege.
White privilege, or white skin privilege, is the societal privilege that benefits white people over non-white people in some societies, particularly if they are otherwise under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. With roots in European colonialism and imperialism, and the Atlantic slave trade, white privilege has developed in circumstances that have broadly sought to protect white racial privileges, various national citizenships, and other rights or special benefits.

Where does white privilege take us? Well, let’s start adding all the various aspects of identity politics.
- Add sexism. Then we can discriminate against privileged white males and make them give up their white privilege.
- Add religion. Then we can discriminate against privileged Protestant white people and make them give up their white privilege.
- Add “gender.” Then we can discriminate against privileged white heterosexual males and make them give up their white privilege.
- Add wealth. Then we can discriminate against privileged wealthy white people and make them give up their white privilege.
- Add ageism. Then we can discriminate against privileged young white people and make them give up their white privilege.
- Add politics. Then we can discriminate against privileged Conservative white people and make them give up their white privilege.
- And so it goes. We can make anybody “do the right thing,” whatever that “right thing” may be.
Pick an “identity.” Add historical victimization, and you too now have an excuse to discriminate to your heart’s content. We can even add COVID-19. Then we can fiercely discriminate against privileged unvaccinated and unmasked white people and make them give up their white privilege.
What is the problem here? Why is stupidity? We have forgotten the purpose of government. Once we give the government the power to persecute people for not “doing the right thing,” government, even when led by white male elected officials, has an excuse to angrily and self righteously pit everyone else against anyone. Even COVID-19 can become an excuse. Then we can discriminate against unmasked and unvaccinated white people and make them give up their white privilege. After all, everything is racist, even viruses.
What is the problem? We have forgotten the purpose of government.

We don’t have a government to make other people “do the right thing.” That is what busybodies do. Because we can be so mean and nasty to each other, we have a government that is designed to protect us from each other. That is in fact why our Constitution includes check and balances and spreads power across local, state, and Federal governments. In addition to protecting private parties and individuals from each other, we need a government that helps us as citizens to use government power to protect each other from government power. We must have a government to protect us from each other. Nevertheless, when we have a government, the abuse of government becomes the greatest threat to our liberties.
So, beware! The people promoting “white privilege” are grievance peddlers. You want success in this life? The look to yourself, your family, your friends, and your neighbors. Stop worrying about what you can use the government to steal from others. If we succumb to the temptation to abuse government power to get what we want from other people, most of us will just be enslaved by those best able to abuse government power. Please observe that most of those people are in fact white wealthy Protestant, heterosexual males.
AMEN! Our government is out of control. We need to get it back in the hands of the people.

Well, I won’t say it is not possible. We human beings can be quite gullible, but empty rhetoric does not usually produce shock and awe. “Skilled” politicians produce shock and awe by telling people what they want to hear and making it sound believeable.

Lookup “The Christmas Truce” from WW1. Lookup all those times in history where commanders from both sides lowered their weapons enough for each side to clear their wounded from the battlefield. Sometimes.. albeit rare.. but sometimes these little compromises needed in the moment can set the groundwork for dialog later. Time will tell. In the meantime, there’s a very weak agreement out of expediency needed for both sides.

Do some people want to believe they can kill others? Ever hear of the Taliban? Given the number of abortions and the strength of the abortion “rights” movement, the number of people eager to kill an inconvenient baby or an “unbeliever” is not small as one might wish.
I don’t need to elevate AOC. Biden, the “moderate,” is trying to spend all the money AOC ever proposed to spend. Add it up. He already has 10 – 12 trillion on the table.
Comparing the Taliban with “The Christmas Truce” from WW1 is just weird. Do you recall the bloody warfare followed that moment of peace?
Trump’s peace with the Taliban was calculated. He offered them a stick and carrot. “The Christmas Truce” came from the hearts of men who honestly dreaded the prospect of killing each other. Yet they did because some of their leaders had too much invested in that war. Without the stick, which Biden fears to weld, the Taliban will kill and kill and kill….

Kind of expected, but they were not attacking Americans. The agreement was directed at the Afghan government. If we were ever going to get out of there, we had to come up with some kind of arrangement that allowed the players to get along with each other. Until then, we could use the Taliban’s intransigence as an excuse to postpone our departure.

“White Privelege” has as an interesting history everyone should know about. While Peggy McIntosh, feminist activist and women’s studies scholar, wrote a famous paper called “White Privilege and Male Privilege” in 1968, she was influenced by Noel Ignatiev, professor at W.E.B. DuBois Institute at Harvard (DuBois was a member of the Communist Party who helped found the NAACP, btw). Ignatiev first created the concept of “White Privilege” in 1967. According to James Simpson (author of “Who Was the Real Karl Marx?”), Ignatiev was a member of the Communist Party USA’s most radical wing, the Maoist/Stalinist Provisional Organizing Commitee. He co-authored an SDS pamphlet with fellow radical Ted Allen titled, “White Blindspot.” In 1992, Ignatiev co-founded “Race Traitor:Journal of the New Abolitionism.” Its first issue coined the slogan, “Treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.”

Do I know what is going on? Not really.
As near as I can tell, Biden is an opportunist. The French Revolution was actually started by the aristocrats, and they lost control to true believers. The chaos created by the true believers allowed Napoleon to seize power.
Currently, most of the wealthy elites in this country just want to profit from crony capitalism. Since they control the news media, that gives them a strong hand. My guess is that they expect to use their control over the media and the control their corporations have over our wealth to maintain and further consolidate their control.
Problem. What people believe makes a difference. The elites have focused on propaganda and the control of money, but they have not thought through the crazy ideologies they have unleashed in our universities.
The third rate politicians we have put in charge of this country “lead” by running to the front of whatever direction they see the crowd headed, and these are the same jokers whose campaigns our greedy elites have financed. So, our greedy elites actually don’t have control. Third rate politicians think they have control, but they are incompetent and arrogant.
Only God knows where this train wreck is headed. God help us!

If God (however you discern that word) built the ‘right thing to do” into our hearts then IMO that’s where we should be looking for the right thing to do. . . . But unless our hearts are free and clear we may have no alternative than to play follow the leader to whatever feels good or makes us look good or . . . this is how the trickster gets to us. This is the birthplace of self-righteousness and evil.
IMO, this life is all about how well we listen and what we create after we listen . . . we are spiritual beings having an experience, and that experience is a direct result as to how well we listen.
We possess the power of the universe within us, our job is to use it in the ways intended by the creator we more often than not, pretend to know so well, but hardly know or understand at all.

What is the point of getting all your news from the big corporate news media? To get you to support the politicians their owners have bought, they lie and withhold information from you. Do you actually think CNN has YOUR best interests at heart? Even if you are that foolish, you should still verify their reports. And don’t just use Google. Sigh!
The thing with debating “credible” news sources, Tom, hinges on a single perception… are you consulting a source because of how they agree with YOUR bias or for objective reporting. Then again, perhaps the greater debate is… what IS objective reporting and what does that mean to you?
You watch some elected official giving a speech or talking in an interview and you find yourself liking what he/she says.. “I like what this person says, They make sense.”. So.. you going to stick with your “objective reporting” news source that (seemingly) constantly focuses on this person’s moral improprieties outside their marriage because that can be a difference to voters who appreciate common morality in their elected officials, or are you more concerned with the “meat & potatoes” of this person’s political outlook and want that reporting to reflect, or affirm, what you find politically attractive with this person?
Let’s also keep in perspective here that reporting the news is not a charity. It needs viewers from which advertising can be sold in order to pay the bills. To attract a broad range of viewers most larger media outlets will take great pains to present a measure of objectivity.. meaning “non-biased judgement” in the reporting of news. On a good day that can be difficult to do because we are only human and many times our internal feelings can come through in the nuances of communicating… especially in the reporting of stories that affect our own moral inclinations. This day and age of news networks, much of the reporting of news also includes the immediate feedback from talking head “guests” that DO present bias in order to provide the viewer with depth on an issue. It’s not a perfect system. Networks who choose to report in a biased way.. like FOX.. are going for the niche viewership.. in their case, Conservative issues.
The entire way to meander through all this.. here it comes.. that old concept of personal “critical thinking”. Everyone presumes they are the greatest of objective critical thinkers when in reality there is no single formula. You like a politician then there’s likely nothing going to change your mind.. and a network that reports the things you do not like… yet can be factual and true to that person… you are likely going to call biased.
Now.. the interesting concept that Trumpism has brought to light is that if the reporting is negative toward the person you like.. then that reporting is a lie, an untruth, a falsehood… when in actuality it could be quite sound and factual. Trumpism has brought to the mainstream that “denial” of the bad will inflate the affirmation of the “good”. Thus endeth the lesson for the day.
