THE EVIL OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS — PART 1

An inferior (meaning lower) mirage seen in the Mojave Desert in a Nevada spring. (from Mirage (en.wikipedia.org))

Introduction

What does the expression “politically correct” mean to you? What does the picture of a mirage have to do with being “politically correct?” Well, just like a mirage, political correctness is deceptive. Political correctness leads us to accommodate lies until our increasing acquiescence allows the sins of liars to enslave us.

What kind of sins? Well, political correctness is obviously related to politics, but the sins are ordinary enough.

Here in the Introduction we will try to spark your interest and show the relevance of the topic. With a couple of examples we will show how political correctness is used to shame people into lying.

So let’s begin with our examples.

Global Warming

What happens when a Conservative rejects the argument that Global Warming is a proven fact. Don’t the politically correct treat him like he has lost his mind? Yet, consider the problem. What is the “proof?” The “proof” involves two things:

  • The consensus of the experts.
  • The “fact” that we cannot afford to do nothing.

But what is the solution offered by the politically correct? Doesn’t their solution actually amount to doing nothing? They don’t have a way to solve the problem. Using windmills, and solar panels, and enormous numbers of batteries just produces a different and still serious set of problems. Moreover, China and others will happily burn fossil fuels. That includes what is required to produce our windmills, solar panels and batteries. If we implement the politically correct “solution,” all we will do is give the government — The Establishment — much more power. Since tyranical governments are notorious for poluting their countries, that is really quite ironic.

Biological Sex Versus Gender

Here of late the politically correct insist that we must substitute gender choice for the plain reality of biological sex. That has led to creation of LGBTQ “rights” such as same-sex “marriage.” The latest demand is that we must quietly acquiesce when biological men want to use the ladies room, undress in women’s locker rooms, and compete in women’s sports. We must even cooperate, let the sexually confused put their words in our mouths, and accept their demand that we address them by their preferred pronouns.

Where is the LGBTQ agenda headed? The politically correct want children, prior to the age of puberty, to have the “right” to transition to the opposite sex. That is plainly child abuse, but that is what happens when we substitute going along to get along with doing what we know to be right.

Effectively, the politically correct want us to believe that the difference between men and women does not exist, that biology does not matter. How absurd is that? Where do babies come from? Do storks deliver them?

Believe The Science?

The politically correct would have us believe that “they” follow the science and Conservatives don’t. The COVID-19 pandemic is the latest example. In their quest for power, the politically correct have demanded lockdowns, mandated vaccines, required social distancing and masks, shut down businesses, churches and schools, and so forth. Has any of that worked any better than allowing We the People to make our own choices? No.

Multiculturalism

Multiculturalists would have us believe that all cultures are equally good, that what we believe does not matter. Note again that these are the same people who say they believe and follow the science, and science is part of our culture.

What are the bedrock beliefs of any cultural group? When we speak of a cultural group, don’t the shared religious beliefs of that cultural group provide the strongest bonds between the members of that group? Hence, when multiculturalists want us to believe that all cultures are equally good, they are demanding is that we believe that all religious beliefs are equally good and true. Yet, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and so forth all have beliefs that contradict the beliefs of other religious beliefs. All those religions cannot all be true at the same time. Therefore, the only way all cultures can be equally good and true is for all religious beliefs to be equally invalid. Hence, multiculturalism is actually just a deceitful scheme used by Secularists to undermine the belief in God.

Supreme Court

The politically correct would have us believe that the Constitution is a “living document,” that the Constitution means whatever the majority of the black robed judges on the Supreme Court say it means. Supposedly, we don’t have either the expertise or the right to form our own opinions about the Constitution. Of course, that doesn’t restrain the politically correct from trying to pack the court whenever it looks like the Supreme Court might overturn their sacred cow, Roe v. Wade.

Abortion

The politically correct would have us believe that a woman has the Constitutional right to abort her child, which in the name of their cause they have designated a “fetus.” A baby is human, but a fetus is not? When we change a word, do we change reality or just our belief about what is real? At what point does a fetus become a human? When it exits the birth canal? Why not when a toddler can talk? Why not when a young person graduates high school, gets a job, and becomes a productive taxpayer? After all, if an adolescent is just a useless brat, what is wrong aborting that adolescent? The politically correct don’t know, but they can justify their obfuscation with a clever phrase, “pro-choice.”

Meanwhile, the politically correct reject School Choice, vaccine choice, mask choice, the choice of gun ownership, and so forth. The politically correct even vote for Socialism, which would lead the abolition of individual choices.

The Deficit

The politically correct believe the Federal Deficit does not matter. They would have us believe that the Federal Government can spend all the money it wants and that that will lead to prosperity. They would have us believe that the basic principle of economics, Law of Supply & Demand Definition (investopedia.com), does not matter. They would have us believe that a spending spree would not radically increase the money supply and lead to the economic disruptions that have always accompanied inflating the currency of a nation.

Apparently, the politically correct do not follow the economics any better than they follow the science.

Systemic Racism

The politically correct want us to believe that history began in 1619 with the arrival of the first slave in Jamestown, Virginia. The politically correct want us to believe that all of American history revolves around the practice of slavery. The politically correct want us to believe that reverse racism is the only way to end systemic racism.

Do the politically correct want us to end racism by guilting us into allowing them to be racists? It certainly seems that way.

The Mainstream News Media Is Objective and Unbiased

Does anyone still believe that once steadfast lie, that the mainstream news media is objective and unbiased?

Where Is This Series Headed?

That is enough examples. What was the point? The elites, especially those in the news media, can shame and cajole us into believing things just because they insist and insist and insist what they want us to believe is true. They use our doubts and insecurities to keep us from challenging their “truths.” In addition, they don’t report the other side of the argument.

What will the rest of this series discuss?

  • What Is The Definition Of And The Origin Of Political Correctness?
  • What Is The Effect Of Political Correctness Upon Our Education System?
  • What Is The Relationship Between Political Correctness And Sin?

  2. Doug says:

    Oh my gawd.. where do I start.

    • Tom Salmon says:

      @Doug

      It is your apology. You know what you have done. Why are you asking me?

      • Doug says:

        Would you prefer I reply in this venue and you risk public embarrassment, scorn, and ridicule when the followers here read the real truth… or shall we gird our loins and engage at the other place?

        • Tom Salmon says:

          @Doug

          You are just dancing around the subject. PC is not about logic. It is about shame and indoctrination in bad ideas.

          You want to debate? Then pick one my examples and have at it.

          • Doug says:

            Well, before we begin to entertain the follower masses, Tom, you’ve already said things that make little sense.
            You’re assigning shame to something.. or someone. Who judges another person’s shame?
            To presume something you don’t like is someone else falling victim to “indoctrination”.. who exactly has the means, motive, and desire to do the indoctrinating anyway? [cough.. “Trump”] Adding to that, who are those that you suggest are being indoctrinated, and why? [cough.. “Conservatives”]

            It’s hard to select just one when there are so many aberrations listed. I’ll pause my “indoctrination” to think about it.

          • Tom Salmon says:

            @Doug

            Thinking instead of being a smart aleck? Would be a profound difference. Good luck!

  3. Doug says:

    [sigh]
    Your global warming “synopsis”….

    1. Your first sentence suggests you (and other Conservatives I have noticed lately) are feeling the pressure from the majority who do feel the legitimacy of human-accelerated Global Warming because of…
    The consensus of the experts.
    The “fact” that we cannot afford to do nothing.
    ..and you are classifying all that which doesn’t work for you as “political correctness” from the “other” being imposed upon you.
    What’s your def of political correctness?

    2. Let’s assume for the sake of argument here what you are “accusing” is true. How do you (or any of your ilk) recommend we handle nature’s coming wrath with global warming? Kick back, ignore it.. and like Trump said with Covid.. not to worry, it will be gone in two weeks? I mean, if you are denying the science of it all and you managed to find alternative scientific sources to support what Tucker, Hannity, et all, tell you what to believe… then we have nothing to worry about.. right? What the heck… if China isn’t going to play fair then why bother doing anything, right?
    You live close to the coast. When the ice melts and the ocean levels rise and nears your front door, it’s admirable you will just suck it up.. tell the FEMA person (if they even show up) “No.. I don’t need anything. I got this.” In the meantime, until the ice melts, you can get slammed by the occasional hurricanes passing by (made “extra crispy” by nature)… again… “Nah, FEMA, I don’t need a thing.”

    • Tom Salmon says:

      @Doug

      Why do you think I spoke of shame and cajoling? Are you are making a logical argument? No. It is all emotion.

      1. The consensus of the scientist’s, assuming it exists, doesn’t prove anything. Please note that almost all those scientists live off Federal grants. You don’t think that matters? Seriously?

      The burden of proof is not on me.

      We have very little historical data tracking the earth’s temperature. We are still learning what effects our weather. When people talk about global warming, they say almost nothing about the sun, that big yellow thing that warms the earth. And we are supposed to take these people seriously, when we already supposedly know there have been both ice ages and tropical ages in the past.

      What is the proof? The earth is supposedly one degree Celsius warmer, and there is more carbon dioxide in the air. Yet the Global Warming crowd has been telling us for decades that we only have one decade left.

      2. If we do “something,” and the threat of global warming is not real, then we risk starving a bunch of people. We are dependent upon fossil fuels, and that is a fact.

      Please observe that the solutions the scaremongers peddle (You are one of them now.) all involve giving the government more power over us, but that is not required to reduce our carbon dioxide output. In fact the USA was already reducing its carbon dioxide output without any draconian government interventions. You don’t want carbon dioxide from fossil fuels? Then tax it.

      Please note that China makes half the windmills and two-thirds of the solar panels. China, because we shut down our mine for environmental reasons, is also the biggest supplier of critical elements needed to manufacture solid state chips and solar panels. And that country’s leadership wants to dominate the world, and we are they biggest obstacle.

      During the COVID pandemic, we have discovered we cannot trust China, and it is foolhardy to be dependent upon communists. Yet that clown you help to put in the White House has probably be accepting bribes from them. Not a good situation.

      • Doug says:

        Tom.. you’re bordering on the paranoia. You’ve got so many apples and oranges in there, conspiracies, and just plain having zero faith in anything unless it originates from the Bible.
        If a scientist is taking federal grant money he/she’s automatically on the take??
        Giving government more power?? Who is doing that? More to the point, why?? Seems to me if “we give” government more power, is that done through the Constitution? Power to do what exactly?
        Each and every mandate that even becomes a reality is going to be challenged in the courts. There’s a lot of Trump appointments in those courts. Even the big Court is “packed” with Trump appointments. It will take years. In the meantime, utilities and business will shift on their own.
        Computer chips? Yeah.. duh.. one of those “we should have seen that coming long ago” from a strategic standpoint. I heard just yesterday Biden is pushing for a bill to stimulate domestic production. Personally I think we should get paired up with Canada on that one; it’s time to exploit that relationship more. But that’s me.

        I am not aware of any “right away” timeline for any phasing out any fossil fuels. GM is stopping the manufacture of internal combustion engines by something like 2025. No one told them to do that as I am aware. It’s seems a prudent business move, does it not? Who exactly are fossil fuels going to make hungry and poor if the transitions feeding that are commercial applications over years?
        It’s been outside demand, or lack thereof, not mandates, that have fed whatever current decline in fossil fuels, specifically coal. The markets will drive change.

        China makes all the stuff we suddenly “need”… why? Shhh… globalism… and rather poor domestic strategic planning across decades of administrations. (In fact, just WHAT did Trump spend on for those 4 years that was worth kicking up our national debt 40%?)
        You prefer making China the new Cold War adversary… then promote away. They are way too heavily invested in world business to tinker too far. It’s nothing like the economically deficient Soviet Union of the real Cold War years. Everyone is committed to global trade.

        By the way.. that “clown” I helped put into the White House? My vote went to him entirely because he was not Trump… and has a far better political resume. On the plus side, Biden has no behavioral anomalies and actually is working within democracy.. not trying to destroy it with election lies.

        • Tom Salmon says:

          @Doug

          The next laptop I buy is not going to have a touch pad. Sits right under my thumbs when I am typing, and I don’t know how to turn the darn thing off. So, I had to rewrite my comment.

          If a scientist is taking federal grant money he/she’s automatically on the take??
          Giving government more power?? Who is doing that? More to the point, why?? Seems to me if “we give” government more power, is that done through the Constitution? Power to do what exactly?

          You are creating a straw man. Think about it. That is a form of lying. I never said anything about anyone being automatically on the take.

          We are all too easiy corrupted. Consider how many totalitarian and authoritarian states we have in this world. Do they exist because human beings are essentially good? Nazi Germany? Stalin’s USSR? Mao’s China? Tens of millions of people systematically exterminated in the last century? Millions still being murdered and enslaved by horrid regimes in this century.

          Our government pays for most research, especially for research on things like “climate change.” If you don’t think getting a research grant in a highly contentious area like climate change (which use to be called global warming until that expression became a problem) requires researchers to “play ball” with the granting agency, you are kidding yourself.

          What kind of power does the “climate change crisis” give our leaders? Let’s just consider the obvious. The CRISIS gives our leaders the power to pick winners and losers. Subsidies and regulatory relief for electric cars, charging stations, windmills, solar panels, bio fuels, energy efficient buildings and devices, and so forth. Regulations and taxes that penalize coal fired power plants, coal mines, fossi fuel cars, energy inefficient buildings and devices, and so forth. When they were writing the Constitution, nobody ever believed the interstate commerce clause would or could be used this way.

          When I was working at NASA as a USAF detailee, I read about a law that Congress had passed that required NASA to use a certain kind of rocket on satellites. NASA does R&D. It is supposed to experiment, but an earmark, a reward to a donor, prohibited it.

          GM is stopping the manufacture of internal combustion engines by something like 2025. No one told them to do that as I am aware.

          Are you serious? No one told GM about Tesla and its subsidies.
          😆

          China makes all the stuff we suddenly “need”… why? Shhh… globalism… and rather poor domestic strategic planning across decades of administrations. (In fact, just WHAT did Trump spend on for those 4 years that was worth kicking up our national debt 40%?)
          You prefer making China the new Cold War adversary… then promote away. They are way too heavily invested in world business to tinker too far. It’s nothing like the economically deficient Soviet Union of the real Cold War years. Everyone is committed to global trade.

          Another straw man. I never said China makes all the stuff we need, but the Biden administration is clearly commited to making it less profitable to do business in America. Trump was making it more profitable to do business here.
          China is stepping up arms production. China is actively threatening its neighbors, especially Taiwan. China is taking over large ocean areas formerly claimed by its neighbors. China clearly thinks of us as its enemy. So, making ourselve dependent upon China is stupid.

          By the way.. that “clown” I helped put into the White House? My vote went to him entirely because he was not Trump… and has a far better political resume. On the plus side, Biden has no behavioral anomalies and actually is working within democracy.. not trying to destroy it with election lies.

          Biden has no behavioral anomalies? He has a resume? That is ironically funny.

          Biden abandoned a strong military position, pulled our troops out of Afghanistan, realized he had left behind the civilians we were committed to protecting, and then sent more troops back into Afghanistan, putting them in a much weaker position. Bottom line. Biden made a mess, and it is still a mess. We did not come close to getting everyone out, and we undermined the government of Afghanistan. The Afghan military was use to working with air support, but they need our contractors to maintain it, and we took that away. The Taliban did not win. We gave them Afghanistan.

          Biden has removed almost all our defenses on the southern border. We have several hundred thousands illegal aliens entering our country every month, and we don’t know who these people are. We don’t know what diseases, drugs, crimes, and other problems they bringing. We don’t know even what the freebies the Biden administration gives these people will cost us. What is Biden’s idea of “fixing” the problem? Stopping the border patrol from riding horses. Why? The guys on horses look mean.

          Biden encouraged the growth of government and excessive spending. So, we are already seeing a surge of inflation.

          That is just a start, unfortunately. For all practical purposes, Biden has already established himself as the worst president we have had in a hundred years. You don’t think so? Then try to find something that rat has done right, and pleasing the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t count.

          Biden is a performance artist. He does things for their immediate effect. That is why he turned on the Border Patrol agent who had been using their horses for crowd control. They had not done anything wrong, even the photographer said as much, but the picture looked bad, and that was enough for Biden. Yeah! He is going to punish those bad cops, those racist border patrol agents.

  6. Mel Wild says:

    Very interesting series, Tom. I’m catching up on my reading now as I had a ver busy two weeks. What’s interesting about political correctness is that it was a derogatory term used by the Communists in the 1950s to describe Communists who slavishly followed the Party line. And that’s what we’re seeing today; people are being silenced through PC to slavishly follow the radical left’s Party line.

    Another interesting point you may bring up is about gender. Most people don’t know that gender was not a thing relating to people before Don Money associated it to humans about 50 years ago. Before Money, human beings were classified as being two sexes. Gender was only associated with language. Money changed all that, which opened the door to the insane gender policies we’re witnessing today.

    We are truly living in a time of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” It’s political correctness that stops the sane people from stating the obvious. We must overcome this form of societial shaming before the truth can prevail.

    • Mel Wild says:

      Sorry, I meant JOHN Money.

    • Tom Salmon says:

      @Mel Wild

      I think much of the shaming problem comes from two sources: an educational establishment dominated with government money and by teachers unions and a news media dominated by a small number of billionaires infatuated by the idea of crony capitalism. The result is that a few cliques have achieved communications dominance. So, now we have even reached the point that we effectively have two systems of justice. Not good!

      We are in a race at this point. Can we break through the information monopoly and win at the polls before those with information dominance corrupt our election systems?

      Frankly, I have no idea what is going to happen. I never would have predicted that Northern Virginia would be ground zero for the war over school choice, but that is what seems to be happening.

      • Mel Wild says:

        I think that people have finally reached the boiling point about where PC has gotten us over the last 50 years. The pushback in Loudoun County is only the tip of the iceberg. Out here in the Midwest, Iowa just flipped a long-time blue state legislature seat red. Iowa’s now a solidly red state after being historically blue. Likewise, Wisconsin’s legislature is now over 60% red. This is happening all over in traditionally swing states. To use the venacular, people are pissed. And that’s putting it mildly. Biden’s approval numbers are tanking each week, in the 30s right now. Every decision he makes just angers people more.

        • Tom Salmon says:

          @Mel Wild

          Problem with Biden is that we have no way to remove him. Any other president with is record would have been forced to resign.

          • Mel Wild says:

            True. And no one wants Kamala Harris, which is probably the only thing keeping him in office. The only thing we can really do is mitigate the damage through pushback against his unconstitutional mandates and sway the political powers that be and elect those who actually still believe in a constitutional government in 2022.

    • Tom Salmon says:

      @Mel Wild

      Will have to look up Don Money, BTW. Never heard of him

  7. Tom Salmon says:

    @Mel Wild

    Well, when people start some sort of name calling, it is a cinch they won’t listen, there is often a small audience.

    Medical Lysenkoism? That’s a good way to describe the mask and vaccine mandates. When someone has to be vaccinated, even though they have already had COVID-19, that is tyranny, not science.
